Barcelona legend Xavi spoke to The Metro about Barcelona’s rumoured move for Arsenal star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners skipper will soon enter the final year of his contract and a move to Spain has been heavily rumoured.

Spanish outlet Sport claimed two months ago that Aubameyang would be open to a move to Barcelona this summer, which sent shock waves among Arsenal fans.

Mikel Arteta’s side will struggle to keep hold of their star striker if a club as big as Barca come in for him. However, if the Catalans take Xavi’s advice, their focus will no longer be on the Arsenal star.

Xavi said: “Mane and Aubemayang can kill you in open space. But Barcelona need players who know how to move in small spaces.

“I am thinking about player who would adapt to Barcelona and it’s not easy to find one. Samuel Eto’o was perfect as is Luis Suarez right now.”

Xavi further urged Barcelona to snub their plans for Aubameyang and Liverpool’s Sadio Mane and instead work on bringing Neymar back from Paris Saint-Germain.

That move seems almost impossible due to the financial problems that most clubs are set to face, and Arsenal fans will be hoping that Barcelona’s move for Aubameyang falls apart as well.

Good news for Arsenal?

The former Dortmund man has almost single-handedly carried Arsenal to the top half of the Premier League table.

Aubameyang has scored 20 times for the Gunners, 17 of those coming in the league. Losing his goals could prove to be disastrous for Arteta in his first full season in charge, considering the lack of decent replacements available on the market.

Xavi is tipped by many to be Barcelona’s boss one day and, if their board pay any attention to what he has said, they should end their interest in the Arsenal man this summer.
