Wolves endured the worst loss of the Walter Zenga reign so far last night, beaten 4-0 by Barnsley.

It showed the wheels have well and truly fallen off for a side, who were hoping to be considered as promotion contenders.

The side now need a re-think, and Zenga needs to quickly work out what his best team is, after bringing in a host of new faces during the transfer window.

One player who was strongly linked with signing for Wolves was Anderson Talisca, with Portuguese newspaper O Jogo reporting in August that he was close to a deal.

Talisca’s move fell through due to work permit complications, and he signed for Besiktas on a season long loan instead.

Last night he was in action for his new side against his parent club Benfica – permitted to play in the match under UEFA rules.

He made Benfica pay, by scoring a last minute goal to rescue a 1-1 draw.

With Wolves on the wrong end of a Championship hammering, Talisca was shining in Europe’s elite competition, and it is unlikely he is looking at his teammates who did make the move to Molineux and feeling jealous.

The one that got away for Wolves? Absolutely.
