West Ham are eyeing a move for Jonny Evans.

Evans has a £3 million relegation release clause in his contract and the Baggies’ predicament makes it likely they will be going down.
West Ham’s interest in Evans is an admission they need strengthening in defence, which is interesting as the centre-back pointed this out earlier this season.

West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady took umbrage with comments made by Evans, and told The Sun:
“Baggies centre-back Jonny Evans claims Slaven Bilic’s attacking tactics leave us vulnerable in defence.
“True, we’ve had a couple of stinkers but such things happen in football, particularly when a manager is intent on providing lively entertainment. Slaven will no doubt find an answer without sacrificing our goalscoring threat.”
The comments had come after West Ham’s 4-2 loss at the Hawthorns against West Brom.
Brady was keen to defend manager Bilic, but the club’s fortunes did not improve and he was sacked and replaced by David Moyes weeks later.
Moyes worked with Evans at Manchester United and he has more of a defensive focus than Bilic did, despite the club’s hammering at the hands of Liverpool at the weekend.
Evans may have the chance to tackle the vulnerability he identified if he joins West Ham.
