Tottenham Hotspur are in the process of negotiating new contracts for first team stars Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane, reports the Independent.

The North Londoners are getting ready to smash their current wage cap to double Kane’s wages to around £200,000-a-week to ward off interest in the striker.

The Alderweireld deal could be a little more complicated as although he is under contract until 2019 with the option of a year’s extension, triggering that would also see a £25m release clause come into action.

Spurs are understandably keen for that not to happen for a centre-back rated among the best in Europe, but there is still some distance between what the club are prepared to offer and what the Belgium international wants to be paid.

However, is one player – who is often described as underrated – being overlooked during these negotiations and should perhaps also be in line for a new deal in Heung-min Son?

Son scored an 84th minute equaliser during the Premier League clash with West Ham United on January 4 to rescue a point for Tottenham, his ninth goal of the season and 38th in 114 appearances in all competitions since joining the club in 2015.

According to the Daily Star the 25-year-old’s current deal of around £85,000-a-week expires in 2020, which is £10,000-a-week less than what Moussa Sissoko earns. Is it time to reward Son for his form?
