The search for a new manager at Rangers begins. The Ibrox club decided to sack Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Monday and Rangers should want a replacement in soon – so why not consider the Argentine genius that is Marcelo Bielsa?

Van Bronckhorst lost his job after a year in charge after a woeful start to the season. The worst-ever in Champions League group-stage history, nine points behind Celtic, poor summer signings and a number of players out of contract.

It has seen the ex-Feyenoord man lose his job. So, where do Rangers turn next? The favourites include Michael Beale, Sean Dyche and Steven Gerrard. Beale and Gerrard though, would hardly give Rangers a freshness that they need.

Indeed, Beale and Gerrard spent three years alongside eachother as Rangers won the league. But a new start is needed at Ibrox to catch Celtic and Ange Postecoglou. Charlie Nicholas thinks Dyche is ideal, but his style might not suit fans.

Rangers should consider Argentine genius Bielsa, after Leeds exit

Bielsa is renowned in football as one of its most-innovative managers. A boss that has followers in the form of Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino, known for a different style. His man-to-man system got Leeds promoted.

In his first season after promotion, they finished ninth in the Premier League. Things had gone stale when sacked in February. He remains out of work, but with a CV that includes Bilbao, Argentina, Marseille and Leeds – clubs are keen.

Nations, too. Bournemouth were reportedly in talks, as per Sky Sports, but those have broken down. Rangers should move – which would see him form a reunion with Kemar Roofe. Roofe played for a year before leaving for Anderlecht.

It would also see Bielsa finally get to work with Ryan Kent – a player he tried to sign on numerous occasions. Out of work and no longer in talks with Bournemouth, and with Rangers needing a fresh start, Bielsa would surely be ideal.
