Leeds were reportedly interested in Rangers forward earlier in 2018.

Leeds United could have a very limited opportunity to push for Rangers’ Josh Windass if they still hold an interest.

Windass is reportedly set to be subject of a £1.5 million offer from Cardiff City, with Neil Warnock said to be keen on the attacker, The Scottish Sun report.

Championship side Leeds were claimed to be interested in January by The Daily Record.

Now with Cardiff interested, Leeds could have to make a snap decision whether to re-ignite their interest in the versatile midfielder.

Windass scored 18 goals last season for the Gers, but his work rate was questioned at times by supporters.

This could make the 24-year-old a questionable fit for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds, but the much revered Argentine boss could also be the manager to inspire his game to a new level.

£1.5 million is a bargain fee for Cardiff or Leeds to be considering for Windass in today’s game, and a very small gamble to take.

At Leeds, Windass would be an upgrade on Hadi Sacko if played out wide, or a deputy to Samu Saiz in the central attacking midfield role.

It could be difficult for the Whites to compete with Premier League side Cardiff, but Windass could still be swayed by Leeds’ ambition, and the chance to battle for promotion instead of fighting against relegation.
