Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Villarreal want to sign Giovani Lo Celso from Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur as soon as possible in the summer transfer window.
The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Italian club Fiorentina will also try to enter the race for the Tottenham midfielder.
La Liga club Villarreal are in talks for the £100,000-a-week (SalarySport) Argentina international midfielder for a loan deal with an option to make it permanent next summer.
The 26-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal from Tottenham.
Lo Celso made 11 starts and five substitute appearances in La Liga for the Yellow Submarine last season.
The Argentine scored one goal and gave one assist in those matches.
The Tottenham-owned midfielder also made six appearances in the UEFA Champions League for Villarreal last season.

Villarreal and Fiorentina want Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso
Spurs exit likely
In our view, Giovani Lo Celso is likely to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window, especially with Villarreal so keen on the Argentine.
Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte clearly does not rate the midfielder which is why he sent him out on loan in the middle of last season.
And Spurs did not miss him, as they finished in the top four of the Premier League table last season.
