Tottenham Hotspur target Malcom wants to join an ‘elite’ club.

Bordeaux winger Malcom has been quoted by Sky Sports as saying that he wants to join an ‘elite club’ this summer as he gears up to leave the French side.

Malcom, 21, joined Bordeaux from Corinthians in January 2016 having starred in his native Brazil, and he impressed with 11 goals in his first 58 games for Bordeaux.

This term though, the wide man has become a sensation in France, notching eight goals and six assists in 27 Ligue 1 games for Bordeaux, earning huge plaudits in the process.

Malcom’s superb season may have come a little too late for him to make Brazil’s World Cup squad this summer, but he could still earn himself a transfer at the end of the season.

Speculation surrounded Malcom’s future in January, but Bordeaux stood firm and kept him, seemingly with the promise that he could move on at the end of the season in a big-money move.

It was just last week that RMC Sport claimed there was huge interest in Malcom’s signature, with Bayern Munich one of the club’s mentioned, as well as Tottenham Hotspur.

The report stated that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino had made calls to Malcom in recent weeks in a bid to convince him to make the move to North London this summer, with a deal worth up to £48million possibly in the pipeline.

Now, Malcom has been quoted by Sky Sports as saying that he wants to join an ‘elite club’ this summer, so he can win the Champions League and play for Brazil – and whether Tottenham fit that bill is open to interpretation, though there is no denying that they are moving forward under Pochettino.

“I want to play for an elite club in Europe, win the Champions League and play for the Selecao,” said Malcom. “When I play for a big club, my chances improve. I want to thank Bordeaux for everything. First I want to finish the season with the best possible result and then I am going to sit down with my agent and family. Together we will make a decision,” he added.
