Leeds United would have to pay big to sign Pierre-Michel Lasogga. Is he really worth it?

In early February, Leeds fans were calling for striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga to sign permanently.

But as the goals have dried up, enthusiasm for the club to break the bank for the striker has subsided.

Lasogga earns £50,000 a week at Hamburg, of which Leeds are only paying a small portion.

The striker told Bild last month that he is keen to play in the Premier League next season, which Leeds will not be able to offer him.

Lasogga’s inconsistent form means he may struggle to earn a move to the top flight.

That could be too bad for him, because his chances of signing for Leeds may also be passing him by.

The German striker has not scored since February 21, and he has now gone eight games without a goal.

He has started five of these eight games, recalled for the match with Sunderland this past weekend.

If Leeds were to splash out to sign Lasogga, he would have to be putting in a series of superb performances to convince the Whites to make him their top earner, and meet Hamburg’s demands.

He is not showing that, and his recent eight game stint without a goal could be sealing his fate.
