David James has suggested on the Football Show on Sky Sports (17/03/21 at 10:25 am) that Liverpool would ‘offer even more insecurities for opposition defences’ without Mo Salah in the team.
The former England defender did point out that Liverpool need ‘all four’ of their attacking players if they are to secure a top-four finish this season.
But the ex-goalkeeper suggested that Jurgen Klopp is better off picking Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota as his front three.
Salah is the Premier League’s top goalscorer for a reason, and to still be top of that list when Liverpool have gone through serious struggles, just goes to show what he brings to the table.
But former Liverpool man, James offered his own controversial take on the Egyptian flyer.
“My interesting one is Salah because as much as he’s the top goalscorer in the league this season,” said James.
“You wonder whether Firmino, Jota and Mane would offer even more insecurities for opposition defences. There is definitely a role for him (Firmino).
“Liverpool need them all. They need all four of them if they want to get into that fourth place.”

It’s a rare rest period for Liverpool, who aren’t in FA Cup or Premier League action this weekend and will return to domestic action after the international break.
For months, Klopp was critical of the scheduling and the decision not to bring back the five-sub rule.
Well, ahead of a very important season-ending, this rest period is crucial for these Liverpool players getting back to their maximum as they try to overcome some seriously difficult hurdles.
