Celtic’s Marvin Compper may not be done yet.

Celtic’s forgotten man Marvin Compper made a surprise appearance for the development squad this week.
Compper has made just one appearance since signing for Celtic from Red Bull Leipzig in January 2018.
While nice to see him fit again, realistically he has no hope of breaking into the Celtic first team this season.
That does not mean he is done at Celtic.
Compper is under contract at Celtic until summer 2020, and he could have a role to play at the club this summer.
The Scottish season begins early. This past season Celtic kicked off their Champions League qualifiers on July 10.
Early July represents a pinch point for Celtic’s squad, where they could be light on numbers defensively.

Dedryck Boyata will have left on a free transfer, as it stands, while Filip Benkovic’s loan will have ended and he will return to Leicester.
The centre-back spots will be up for grabs, and this is what Compper should be working towards.
Celtic will pursue transfer targets, but there is no guarantee they will get them in early.
Even if Compper can contribute for just a few games at the start of next season, it will be an improvement on his spell at the club to date; and he may even prove to be worth the wait.
