Liverpool fans have hit back at Hakim Ziyech, over his comments about the Champions League final.
Ziyech, who is set to join Chelsea next season, was part of the Ajax squad who narrowly missed out on facing Liverpool in Madrid last year.
And the playmaker claims that if Ajax had made it to the final instead of Tottenham Hotspur then they would have toppled Liverpool.
“Certainly we could have beaten Liverpool if we had qualified for the Champions League final last year,” the £33 million (Sky) said in an Ajax documentary.
Liverpool fans think that Ziyech’s comments are totally wrong though.
And they insist that the Reds would have beaten Ajax in Madrid, if they had made the final.
Liverpool ultimately beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final 2-0.
The Reds were not at their flowing best on that occasion, but they did enough through a strong defensive performance to seal the victory.
