Jamie Carragher has said that in terms of his passing range, Trent Alexander-Arnold can be compared to Kevin De Bruyne.

That is one hell of a statement from the Reds legend considering the England international has previously ranked the Manchester City vice-captain as one of the top three midfielders in Premier League history.

While the Belgian maestro’s form has dipped since the World Cup, he still remains the leading assist-getter in Europe this season, which emphasises how elite he has been since joining City in 2015.

However, Jamie Carragher believes that Trent Alexander-Arnold can pass the ball at the level, or at almost at the standard of Kevin De Bruyne.

The £180,00-a-week man has been slated this season for his suspect displays defensively, with Carragher himself alongside Dean Saunders and Michael Owen calling him out to name a few.

Considering the 24-year-old is naturally a central midfielder, many ache for him to make a return to the role, considering his attacking qualities are his finest attribute.

Jamie Carragher is one of them and a key reason why possesses this desire is because he reckons Trent Alexander-Arnold can be compared to Kevin De Bruyne when it comes to his passing ability.

“In terms of his passing range, Alexander-Arnold is as good as anyone in Europe and the closest Liverpool have to Kevin De Bruyne or Steven Gerrard”, he wrote in the Telegraph.

In our view: Carragher is way off the mark

Sure, the Englishman is an incredible passer of the ball.

But considering Trent Alexander-Arnold plays at right-back, he has a lot more favourable angles to find players in comparison to Kevin De Bruyne, who plays in the second and third phases of the pitch, which is why this may be a stretch from Jamie Carragher.

Such bold statements can only be made if Alexander-Arnold does replicate his passing range from midfield.
