Tim Sherwood has stated that Liverpool’s Trent-Alexander Arnold can get ‘exploited’ from a defensive standpoint, as he told Premier League Productions.

The TV pundit added that was proven at the weekend when Liverpool recorded a 2-2 draw against Antonio Conte’s side.

Going forward, Alexander-Arnold is one of the assist kings of Europe and he produced once again for his side when he laid the ball on a plate for his partner in crime, Andy Robertson.

But previously, the Liverpool academy product has been questioned as to the quality he has when defending one-v-one situations.

Sherwood thinks his former side caused Liverpool problems ‘on the switch’ on Sunday and Alexander-Arnold was part of that issue.

“As good as Trent is going forward,” said Sherwood. “I think he can get exploited defensively.

“They (Tottenham) were making run in-behind him and I thought it caused them a problem on the switch.”

The fact of the matter is Liverpool’s style and the manner in which they set-up does make life harder, from a defensive standpoint, for players like Alexander-Arnold.

They push so high up the pitch that they act like wingers and they are going to leave spaces in-behind.

Added with that, from a positional standpoint, it’s not always going to be ideal because they are more bothered about making the ball talk going forward.

TAA’s numbers are there for all to see, so he can have some leeway and issues when defending for his side because he does the business in the final third.
