Steve Bruce has been speaking to the media ahead of his side’s encounter with Brighton this Sunday, and he has answered a question about one Newcastle player.
DeAndre Yedlin – who was signed by Rafa Benitez in 2016 – was linked with a move away in a report by the Daily Mail.
They state that the Magpies would be willing to sell the USA international for £5 million, and that MLS clubs as well as sides from around Europe are keen.
When asked about this situation, the Chronicle quote Bruce as saying: ‘I have seen it. But then again I have seen it with so many players. As far as I’m concerned it’s pure speculation.’
The former Tottenham right-back – who has played 62 times for his country – has made 116 appearances for the Tynesiders.

In that time, he has netted three goals and assisted a further ten.
He was part of Benitez’s squad which earned an immediate return to the Premier League, following their relegation under both the Spaniard and Steve McClaren.
However, he has fallen behind Javier Manquillo in the Newcastle pecking order, making just ten Premier League starts last season.

According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle are also interested in a move for Arsenal’s Calum Chambers, a man who can operate at right-back as well as at centre-back.
Should that move materialise, then it really could spell the end for Yedlin given the quality of competition for his place.
