Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly lining up a swoop for the Barcelona star.
Reports emanating form Spain today suggest that Spurs have made a €30 million (£27 million) offer for Barca midfield ace Denis Suarez, according to Mundo Deportivo (16/8 p16), as Mauricio Pochettino looks to bolster his ranks before the transfer window slams shut at the end of this month.
Whilst the 23-year-old is undoubtedly a real talent, it could be argued that Tottenham are targeting the wrong Barcelona player, and would be far better served in making a move for Sergi Roberto, whose future at the Camp Nou is uncertain to say the least, following Paulinho’s arrival.

The Lilywhites have one of the smallest squads in the Premier League, so their need for versatile players is more important than it would be at other elite clubs in England, and with Sergi Roberto’s ability to play anywhere in midfield, as well as right-back, the 25-year-old would be the ideal addition to Pochettino’s group.
Roberto’s incredible talent was summed up last season in one moment against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, when his lung-busting run from deep inside his own half ultimately ended in Lionel Messi scoring an injury time winner for Barcelona.
The way that things have gone for Spurs during the transfer window thus far, Tottenham fans will surely be happy with any signing that their club makes, and whilst Suarez would be a useful addition, Roberto would offer them far more, in a greater variety of positions.
