Doubts emerge over West Ham’s move for Sporting’s William Carvalho so should they look at Jack Wilshere of Arsenal again?
A deal for West Ham United to sign William Carvalho from Sporting Lisbon has stalled as the two clubs fail to come to an agreement over price, according to the Sun.
The Hammers had hoped an offer of £36m would be enough to land the midfielder, but now the Portuguese side are holding out for closer to £40m.

A different report from the same newspaper claims the East London outfit are now also looking at Danilo Pereira of Porto as an alternative if the Carvalho move fails to materialise.
However, Pereira has a £51m release clause at the Estadio do Dragao so it is unclear how much the 25-year-old would cost and he too could prove to be too expensive.
In that scenario, perhaps West Ham should turn their attention back to Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere, with the Express saying the Premier League team are interested in signing the England international.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is open to Wilshere leaving the Emirates Stadium, which could lower his potential valuation, as could the fact the midfielder has entered the final year of his current contract with the North Londoners.
There may be some concerns at the London Stadium about the Englishman’s proneness to injury – he is currently sidelined with a fractured leg – as well as his inconsistent form while on loan at Bournemouth last season, but he is still only 25 and has bags of experience in the English top flight.
