Pedro Chirivella has lauded Liverpool coach and right-hand man to Jurgen Klopp Pep Lijnders for his impact whilst with the Reds.
Speaking to the Athletic, the 24-year-old midfielder praised the Dutch coach for improving his confidence in training sessions. Lijnders has been a key part of Liverpool’s first-team squad since the arrival of Klopp.
The German manager brought Lijnders onto his first-team coaching staff in 2015. And since then, the 38-year-old has become a central figure for the Reds. With Chirivella a big fan of the Liverpool assistant manager.
Lijnders has been noted over the years at Liverpool for being a coach who is excellent at developing players and training them to suit Klopp’s style of football.
And for Chirivella, who earns a reported £300,000-a-year, the Dutch coach made a lasting impact for the Spanish midfielder.
The Nantes playmaker said: “Pep was fantastic. He gave me so much confidence to be around Melwood. He spoke about me greatly. I know he had a lot of sympathy for me. He admired me as a person and is someone I will keep in my mind for a long time.”
Lijnders praise shows how important he is to Liverpool alongside Klopp

A good assistant manager can make or break a team. And for Liverpool, they have the perfect figure in Lijnders to work alongside Klopp, with the duo having unparalleled success over the past six years.
The Dutch coach has been one of Liverpool’s most important figures since being promoted to work with the first team. And based on Chirivella’s comments, Lijnders has a close relationship with players who are not involved that much with the senior squad.
