Arthur Numan has suggested to The Glasgow Evening Times that Rangers defender Philippe Senderos should not be criticised too strongly for his performance against Celtic last weekend.
Senderos featured for Rangers against Old Firm rivals Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.
The former Arsenal defender started the match and was expected to be an important player for the Gers.
However, the centre-back had an afternoon to forget, as Rangers were hammered 5-1 by Celtic and he was sent off.

Senderos was dismissed in the 75th minute of the Old Firm derby for two bookable offences. During his time on the pitch, the Switzerland international did not fare well.
The match against Celtic was also the 31-year-old centre-back’s competitive debut for Mark Warburton’s side.
Senderos moved to the Gers on a free transfer following his departure from Grasshoppers at the end of the 2015-16 season.

Former Rangers full-back Numan, who is 46 years of age, has suggested that Senderos should not be criticised too heavily.
“It was his first competitive game for Rangers,” Numan told The Glasgow Evening Times about Senderos. “He had only played in one friendly match. But for him it was a disaster.
“His team lost, he got sent off, he didn’t do well for their second goal and made a hand ball. You can imagine how he feels. It is not the best debut ever, but that is football, it can happen.”
Rangers will return to action this afternoon when they take on Ross County at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.
