West Ham United’s Arthur Masuaku is making an early return to the club.
The DR Congo FA (FECOFA) have confirmed that West Ham United defender Arthur Masuaku has walked out of training and will be returning to the Premier League club.
DR Congo take on Tanzania in an international friendly today, and manager Florent Ibenge will be hoping to pick up a positive result kickstart 2018.
The likes of Chancel Mbemba, Neeskens Kebano, Yannick Bolasie, Benik Afobe and Britt Assombalonga are all named in the squad, but four players have now left the squad ahead of today’s game.
Jordan Ikoko, Paul-Jose Mpoku and Gael Kakuta have all walked out of training, as has West Ham United ace Arthur Masuaku in a bizarre situation.
The statement claims that ‘they all deplored certain organizational aspects’ of the trip to face Tanzania, with FECOFA claiming that even they can’t even change the factors they were angry with, much less the DR Congo coaching staff.
It seems that all four have burned bridges with the DR Congo FA now, and their international futures will be in serious doubt having walked out of training and returned to their clubs.
Masuaku will now look ahead to featuring for West Ham against Southampton in a crucial Premier League clash this weekend, as the Hammers look to stay in the top flight.
His international career may be over before it even really started, having never made a single appearance for DR Congo since switching his allegiance last summer, but Masuaku will now hope to be fresh and raring to go for West Ham after almost two months without a game having been suspended.
