West Ham United drew 0-0 with Everton at the London Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with left back Arthur Masuaku sending a message to fans after the final whistle.

A late Fabio Borini goal had scuppered West Ham’s hopes of beating Sunderland last weekend, and they were looking to get back to winning ways against Everton after that 2-2 draw with the Black Cats.

Everton were bizarrely lacklustre throughout, turning in a below-par performance – but West Ham couldn’t get the all-important goal to win the game, and had to settle for a point.

With 38 points to their name, West Ham are seven points clear of the relegation zone and just two away from the ‘magic’ 40 points mark, which usually guarantees survival in the Premier League.

Manager Slaven Bilic won’t be pleased with how his side have performed over the course of the season, but he will be impressed with the performance of left back Arthur Masuaku against Everton.

The Frenchman, signed from Olympiakos last summer, has had his ups and downs through form and fitness this season, but has recently displaced first choice left back Aaron Cresswell in the West Ham side.

Masuaku has now started each of the last four Premier League games for West Ham, and he took to Twitter after Saturday’s draw to claim it was a strong performance from the Hammers, urging his team-mates and the fans to keep going until the end of the season.

Fans responded by hailing Masuaku, telling him that he was awesome, superb and outstanding in a man of the match performance – a far cry from the criticism he received in the 4-2 defeat at West Brom back in September.
