Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are reacting to David Raya’s performance against Liverpool on Saturday.

Brentford and Liverpool played out a frenetic 3-3 draw in London and the one-time Gunners target was absolutely immense.

Raya, the subject of a couple of bids from Arsenal during the summer of 2020, pulled off a series of stunning saves to keep out Jurgen Klopp’s side – including one ridiculous stop to deny Diogo Jota.

The Guardian reported at the time of the North Londoners’ interest that Mikel Arteta really wanted him at the Emirates Stadium and on the back of games like this, you can see why.

In the end, Arsenal, who needed a replacement for Emiliano Martinez, wound up signing Alex Runarsson, who flopped during his one and only season under Arteta last term.

Here’s how some of their fans are reacting to his heroics against Liverpool last night:

Worth the money

Things worked out for Arsenal in the end because Edu brought Aaron Ramsdale to the Emirates this past summer and so far, he’s looking like a good addition.

But there’s no denying that Runarsson was never good enough for the Gunners and maybe, just maybe, last season could’ve been a bit different for the team – who finished eighth in the Premier League – had Edu signed Raya instead of the Iceland international.

Raya was a lot more expensive – four times more expensive considering the Bees wanted £20 million – but you get what you pay for in any walk of life and judging by his performance last night, the 26-year-old Spaniard would’ve been worth every penny.
