Mikel Arteta has told Football London that he wants to keep Arsenal’s David Luiz at the Emirates Stadium next season.
Luiz has been linked with a move away from Arsenal, with his contract expiring.
However, Arteta is hopeful that a contract can be agreed, which would keep Luiz with the Gunners for next term.
“I’m really happy with David,” Arteta said. “I want to keep him here with us.
“He’s been a key role model for me since I joined. I like what he produces on the pitch. I like his influence around the players and the club.
“I’d love to keep him.”
Luiz has been a regular starter for Arsenal throughout the campaign, and his performances have improved since Arteta arrived.

The £8 million Brazilian (Goal) has already spoken very positively of Arteta’s managerial style and is believed to be enjoying his time with the Gunners.
However, Arsenal are looking to cut costs and Luiz is one of their biggest earners.
Luiz also wants a two-year deal, and Arsenal are keen to only offer him a year’s extension, given he is already 33-years-old, as per Sky Sports.
Despite the uncertainty over his future, Luiz could well be backed to start for Arsenal this evening, when they take on Manchester City.
