Nketiah scored for Arsenal in the 85th minute to help the home team to a 2-1 win against West Ham at the Emirates Stadium in North London.
The former Leeds United loanee came on as a substitute in the 77th minute in the Premier League game.
Arteta has praised the 21-year-old striker, and believes that the England Under-21 international has sent a message to players on the substitutes’ bench about the job they have to do when they come on.
Arteta told Football.London about Nketiah: “It’s so important for him and the team as well. It’s a message to everyone on the bench that they have a mission when they come on.”
Impact player
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are the two main strikers at Arsenal, and it is hard to see Nketiah establish himself in the starting lineup ahead of them this season.
However, the 21-year-old has done a brilliant job as an impact player, as he has made important contributions as a substitute.
According to WhoScored, the youngster scored two goals in 13 Premier League games for Arsenal in the second half of last season.
