Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raved about Nicolas Pepe on the club’s official website.
Arteta has been impressed with how the 25-year-old winger has adapted and has praised the Ivory Coast international’s attitude.
The Arsenal boss believes that Pepe can play at a high level very consistently, and has suggested that he initially struggled at the Gunners due to pressure on him.
Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Pepe: “I think he’s come a long way. We know what the club paid for him when he joined and that was obviously an extra pressure but he’s a player who’s had to adapt, it’s a different style.
“He has a really good attitude. We can see development in a lot of phases of his game. He’s very settled here, he’s liked by the boys, he’s a really good character to have around and I’m really positive that we’re going to have him for many years and that he can perform at a really high level consistently.”
Arsenal spell
Pepe joined Arsenal from Lyon in the summer of 2019 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £72 million.
The winger made 22 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Gunners last season, scoring five goals and providing six assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
The 25-year-old also made two starts and four substitute appearances in the Europa League for the North London outfit last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
The winger has played 42 minutes in the Premier League for Arsenal so far this season, according to WhoScored.
With Arsenal chasing a Champions League place in the Premier League table this season, Pepe will play an important role in that quest.
