Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told the club’s official website that he could play William Saliba against Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur, suggesting that the Gunners central defender would be able to cope with Spurs duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Arteta’s Arsenal will take on Conte’s Tottenham at the Emirates Stadium in the North London derby today.

France international central defender Saliba has established himself in the Arsenal first team.

And Arteta has suggested that the 21-year-old £27 million (Goal) youngster will keep his place in the team for the Premier League match against Tottenham.

This despite the fact that Spurs duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min potentially starting for Spurs.

William Saliba could start for Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur

Arteta said when asked about playing Saliba against Kane and Son: “William has shown over the past few months what he is capable of, and that doesn’t mean that things are always going to go in the same direction but he’s been so good that from my side I have no doubts.”

Big test

In our opinion, it will be a big test for Arsenal defender William Saliba if he starts against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium in the North London derby this afternoon.

Kane and Son are two of the best forwards in the world, and they will make it really tough for the Gunners’ defence.

South Korea international forward Son came on as a substitute against Leicester City in Tottenham’s last Premier League match and banged in a hat-trick.

And we know that Kane is one of the most consistent strikers on the planet who is also very good at creating chances.
