Mikel Arteta has told Football London that Thomas Partey is looking good in Arsenal training, and he could yet start against Newcastle United.
Partey is making his way back from injury for Arsenal, and has been gradually stepping up his recovery away from the pitch.
Arteta now suggests that the Ghanian is getting very close to being brought back into Arsenal’s squad.
And Partey could actually feature against Newcastle, if he continues to prove his fitness in training over the next two days.
“Well, we’ve got an extra two training sessions,” Arteta said.
“We will assess after that whether he’s completely fully ready to start or participate against Newcastle or if we’re gonna leave it another few days for the Palace game. But he’s been training really good. He’s comfortable.
“He’s not aware of the injury right now. He’s done more than what he did after the injury when he played against Spurs. So he’s in a good space, a good mood and you can see the player he is when he’s training.”

Partey’s return will be a huge boost for Arsenal, as he has looked impressive in his few appearances for the North London club to date.
Arteta has the luxury of easing Partey back in too, as Arsenal’s results have been promising more recently.
Arsenal rushed Partey back last time he was ruled out, as they became desperate to get back to wining ways.
But Arteta’s men have now won their last three matches on the spin, which has helped to relieve the pressure which was building on the Spanish boss.
