Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told Football.London that Nicolas Pepe is the winger in his squad who has the best instincts of scoring goals.

Arteta has been impressed by the performances of Pepe for Arsenal in recent weeks, and believes that he has been effective when he has come on as a substitute.

The Ivory Coast international winger came off the bench to score against Slavia Prague in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Arteta told Football.London about Pepe: “Yes, he has been really effective when he has come on as a sub. We started him against Liverpool as well.

“He needs to be at that consistent level, we know that he is a threat and he has got more goal instincts perhaps than any other winger we have and that is a big plus for us.”

Important player for Arsenal

Pepe is a very good winger who has pace, skills, works hard, and connects well with his Arsenal teammates.

The problem with the winger has always been his lack of consistency, but there are some very encouraging signs that the former Lille star is adding that to his game now.

According to WhoScored, Pepe has made 11 starts and 11 substitute appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal so far this season, scoring five goals and providing one assist in the process.

The winger has also made seven starts and three substitute appearances in the Europa League for the Gunners so far this campaign, scoring four goals and providing three assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
