Arteta names six Arsenal players he thinks have raised their games since he took over

Mikel Arteta has told Football London that he believes Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Eddie Nketiah, Joe Willock, Bukayo Saka, Dani Ceballos and Rob Holding are all excellent examples to their Arsenal teammates.

Maitland-Niles, Nketiah, WIllock, Saka, Ceballos and Holding have all spent time out of Arteta’s starting plans during his time as Arsenal boss.

But many of them have forced their way back into contention.

And Arteta has named the six players as squad members who he feels have really stepped up their games under his stewardship.

“I think we have some really good examples with what happened with Eddie, what happened with Ainsley, what’s happening with Joe, what happened with Bukayo, what happened with Dani Ceballos and what happened with Rob Holding,” Arteta said.

“So it’s about that. When I see a player really willing and really trying and really making their only emphasis to be to contribute to the team and try to raise the performance of himself and the collective side, they’re going to have a chance.”

Maitland-Niles and Holding are the latest players to really make his way back into Arteta’s plans.

The pair were both heavily linked with moves away from the Emirates Stadium earlier this summer, but now look set to stay.

Holding could well be considered part of Arsenal’s first choice defence at this moment in time, while Maitland-Niles has also featured frequently this term.

Both of the pair are likely to be part of Arsenal’s match day squad again this weekend, when Arteta’s side face Sheffield United.
