Mikel Arteta has claimed that ‘in this market, things are complicated’ after Arsenal recorded a goalless draw at home to Burnley on Sunday, as he told BBC Sport.

Whilst Arsenal dominated the game at the Emirates, they were toothless in front of goal and failed to score against a Burnley side that haven’t played for a number of weeks.

Added with that, Sean Dyche’s side are in a relegation dogfight, so this will feel like a defeat for those in north London.

Arsenal fans will look towards the January transfer window and whether they can add some much-needed quality to their squad.

But, judging by Arteta’s comments after the match, it’s not what Arsenal fans want to hear regarding the final week of the window.

“In this market things are complicated,” said Arteta.

The two main areas that Arsenal fans might point towards is the middle of the park and upfront.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of the first-team picture, Alexandre Lacazette isn’t showcasing the goalscoring touch needed.

Plus, Eddie Nketiah can’t seem to transform his previous League Cup form into the Premier League.

Then Arteta has to deal with ill discipline in the middle of the park, which has hurt them in recent weeks, and it’s obvious more depth is needed.

If Arsenal don’t sign anyone this month, then it might just hurt them in their quest to finish in the top four, so they need to get moving.
