Arsenal fans don’t exactly appear best pleased with the news that Pierre Emerick Aubameyang will not be included in their squad tonight to face West Ham United.

No Aubameyang

Mikel Arteta said yesterday that Aubameyang would be stripped of the captain’s armband after a disciplinary breach.

However, it seems that the former Arsenal’s captain’s punishment is not going to stop there.

The Gunners boss confirmed that Aubameyang would play no part in his side’s match against West Ham tonight at his press conference yesterday, which was covered by Football London.

And Arsenal fans feel that Arteta is making a big mistake by leaving his main goalscorer out now.

Blow for Arsenal?

Aubameyang actually hasn’t been in the best of form for Arsenal of late, but they always seem more of an attacking force when he is in their squad.

Alexandre Lacazette looks most likely to lead the line without Aubameyang involved, but he doesn’t always appear the most comfortable as a lone striker.

Arteta could also use Gabriel Martinelli or Eddie Nketiah, but neither are completely proven at the top level.

If Arsenal do struggle going forward this evening, it is the sort of decision which will heap pressure on the Spaniard.

Arteta has a rising number of doubters among the support at Arsenal and while he is not under any immediate danger of losing his job, things could turn quickly.

Arsenal are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table and a defeat to West Ham United, who are two places above them, would be hugely damaging to their top four hopes.
