It was a good day all round for Arsenal on Saturday.
The Gunners narrowly avoided elimination from the FA Cup by beating Newcastle United after extra time at the Emirates Stadium.
And one of their highest rated young players, William Saliba, seemed to have a solid performance for his loan club after leaving Arsenal earlier this week.
The 19-year-old French defender joined Nice on a half-season loan from the North Londoners recently and didn’t enjoy a brilliant debut in midweek.
But Saliba was named Man of the Match last night as the Ligue 1 outfit drew 1-1 away to Metz.
The former Saint-Etienne powerhouse, a £27 million signing by Arsenal in the summer of 2019, was a tad suspect for the hosts’ goal, but on the whole it was a relatively solid showing from the youngster, who won four aerial duels and managed four clearances, followed by two interceptions.
The decision to loan him out was a controversial one by virtue of how much some Arsenal fans like Saliba.
