Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has dominated the Arsenal-related headlines in recent days.
Arsenal terminated the Gabon international’s contract on deadline day last Monday, allowing him to join Barcelona on a free transfer.
He isn’t the only player who had his contract with the Gunners torn up this winter, however.
Calum Chambers also joined Aston Villa on a Bosman following the termination of his existing deal at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta doesn’t have a replacement for Aubameyang, but he might have one for Chambers.
Earlier in January, Arsenal recalled Jordi Osei-Tutu from his season-long loan at Nottingham Forest.
It was an injury-ravaged stint in the Championship for the 23-year-old.
However, Osei-Tutu, a Hale End academy graduate, is fit at the moment and he was photographed in Arteta’s training session at London Colney on Friday.
Chambers had most recently been used as a right-back for Arsenal and given that’s where Osei-Tutu plays, the youngster might well be used as the former £16 million signing’s replacement between now and the end of the season.
The Spanish manager has Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares as options ahead of Osei-Tutu, but both have been injured recently and the latter is certainly the best possible alternative if, for whatever reason, Arteta’s first two options were unavailable.
