‘Shows Arteta has no clue’: Some Arsenal fans react to transfer claim involving Edu signing

Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to the rumours that Alex Runarsson is close to heading for the exit door.

This time last summer, Arsenal’s technical director, Edu, was bringing the 26-year-old goalkeeper to North London.

But less than 12 months later and the error-prone keeper is about to leave for Turkey.

Super Lig side Altay are seemingly close to snapping up his talents, after a debut campaign to forget for the Icelandic.

Arsenal fans have commented on how this was a disaster appointment by those running their ship and a mistake of judgement from Mikel Arteta.

Runarsson didn’t join the club to replace Bernd Leno, but to provide stiff competition after the sale of Emi Martinez.

And fast forward to today, after Martinez saved three penalties for Argentina in the Copa America, all that business is now looking pretty abject.

Therefore, it’s understandable that Arsenal fans are pleased that Runarsson is leaving, although, some do feel sorry for the shot-stopper.

He was thrust straight into the limelight when he wasn’t ready, and with his potential exit, there has to be a new face coming in because it also seems that Leno might be joining him out of the door.
