How much did Gabriel Jesus cost Arsenal?

That’s what a lot of neutral supporters might’ve been asking themselves following another brilliant display for the Gunners on Saturday.

He wasn’t among the goals this time, but Jesus, who scored twice in the victory over Leicester City last weekend, played a starring role on Saturday as Arsenal hammered Bournemouth 3-0 in the Premier League.

Alan Smith gave him the Man of the Match award live on Sky Sports, despite Martin Odegaard scoring the first two goals of the game.

Jesus effectively created Odegaard’s opener after beating a number of Cherries en route to setting up Gabriel Martinelli, whose saved effort kindly dropped to the Norway international.

So, how much did Gabriel Jesus cost Arsenal?

The former Manchester City hitman only cost Arsenal some £45 million [The Mirror] – and Mikel Arteta has delivered a prediction that some supporters of the North Londoners will absolutely love.

Still only 25, Arteta, who coached Jesus at the Etihad Stadium, has told Sky that the Brazil international can still get a lot better.

He told Sky Sports: “He’s 25 years old so he can still improve his level a lot. He’s hungry enough and he’s got huge desire to get better and better and be the best he can be.”

This makes for very exciting reading if you’re an Arsenal supporter.

Jesus is already playing some ridiculous football, so the prospect of him improving and becoming even more influential is extremely intriguing and, hopefully for the Gunners and their fanbase, Arteta is right.

At £45 million, he was a significant investment, but it’s already looking like a bargain in a major way.
