Arteta calls up 18-year-old ‘next Walcott’ to Arsenal training ahead of Leicester clash

With Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal set to face Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City on Saturday, Charles Sagoe Jr. has been pictured training with the first-team.

This is not the first instance in which the 18-year-old left-winger has been called up to the senior side, as was reported before the Gunners’ 1-0 victory against Chelsea this season. The same has been the case with fellow youngsters, Kaleel Green and Amario Cozier-Duberry.

Now, it seems even Charles Sagoe Jr. has been invited to first-team training with the big boys at Arsenal, ahead of their side’s upcoming contest against Leicester.

Throughout his time at the Emirates Stadium, a trait that has defined Mikel Arteta is his ability to get the best out of young players, as has been witnessed with the journeys of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith-Rowe and Eddie Nketiah.

It seems as if Charles Sagoe Jr. may well be destined for a similar path one day as he has been spotted in Arsenal training, as seen on Getty images ahead of their much-awaited meeting against Leicester.

The Englishman has been described as a player who has the potential to become the ‘next [Theo] Walcott’ by Football Fan Cast, which goes to show just how talented he truly is.

Arteta is building a team for the future

As recently reported, highly-rated left-back, Lino Sousa is another wonderkid believed to be next in line to potentially become a first-team player.

With Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah leading Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to a potential Premier League title, as well as Emile Smith-Rowe emerging as a key contributor, the same could be the case with Charles Sagoe Jr., who is already training with Arsenal ahead of massive fixtures such as their match-up against Leicester.

As seen with the recent training emerges that have emerged of Amario Cozier-Duberry and Kaleel Green, it’s clear to see that the Spanish boss is not set to be done anytime soon when it comes to promoting young talent.

Considering the former Manchester City assistant has access to handpicking some of the finest young players in the country, he seemingly plans to continue giving them the platform to shine.
