Arsenal teenager Khayon Edwards was part of first-team training this morning ahead of facing Lens in the Champions League.

Khayon Edwards was one of a number of Arsenal youngsters featured in first-team training earlier today.

The Gunners are preparing for Champions League action as they head to France to take on Lens.

Mikel Arteta’s men opened their Champions League campaign with a comfortable home win over PSV Eindhoven.

That has set Arsenal up well for the rest of the group stage and beating Lens would push them another step closer to the knockout stages.

Khayon Edwards in Arsenal training

Arsenal youth reporter Jeorge Bird claims that a number of young players were in Mikel Arteta’s training session at London Colney today.

Striker Khayon Edwards was one of those players with the striker given a chance to shine alongside the senior players.

It’s noted that Charles Sagor Jr, Reuell Walters, Ismail Oulad M’Hand, Jack Henry-Francis, Jimi Gower, Bless Akolbire, Lino Sousa and Amario Cozier-Duberry were all involved alongside Edwards.

Arsenal’s Under-19’s will face Lens earlier on Tuesday with some of those talents no doubt set to feature in that game.

Arteta called them into first-team training today though, allowing his young pros to test themselves against senior players.

Who is Arsenal talent Edwards?

Edwards has been coming up through the Arsenal youth ranks and there is some decent hype surrounding him.

Goal reported in 2022 that Chelsea made an approach to sign Edwards whilst Football London claimed that Brighton and Hove Albion have made contact over a deal.

Edwards chose to stay with Arsenal having hit 16 goals in 16 Under-18 Premier League games in the 2021-22 season.

Last season was tougher for Edwards but he is still impressing Arteta enough to be around the first-team training picture.

The 19-year-old has been hailed as a ‘quick’ and ‘prolific’ attacker with a real ‘predatory instinct’ in the box, as per Arsenal’s official website.

It’s unlikely that we see Edwards against Lens in the Champions League tomorrow but he will certainly welcome these chances to impress around the Arsenal senior stars.
