Jamie Carragher has raved about Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus in The Telegraph and has shared what Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has told him about the Brazil international.

The former Liverpool defender has been hugely impressed by the impact that Jesus has made at Arsenal since his move from defending Premier League champions Manchester City in the summer of 2022.

Carragher has shared that Arteta told him during Monday Night Football on Sky Sports that Jesus is a leader in the dressing room.

Jesus is on the sidelines at the moment, having suffered an injury while playing for Brazil at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The striker has scored five goals and given five assists in 14 Premier League appearances for Arsenal so far this season.

Arsenal are five points clear of second-placed City at the top of the Premier League table at the moment.

Jamie Carragher on Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus

Carragher said: “Jesus knitted Arteta’s tactical elements together, providing energy with his goal threat and enabling his midfield to thrillingly connect with his front line in a way that was impossible with the more static, and generally less consistent No9s he previously worked with. Arteta also told me how much of a leader Jesus is in the dressing room.”

Big miss

In our opinion, Gabriel Jesus will be a big miss for Arsenal, and it will be interesting to see how the Gunners cope in his absence.

Now, it is not clear for how long the striker will be on the sidelines, and the Gunners may have to dip into the January transfer market to get in a replacement.
