Asim Mohammed describes how the the returning trio of Wilshere, Diaby and Rosicky will without a doubt one of the sweetest selection headaches for Arsene Wenger in 16 years at the club.
The superb selection options available are a sign of Arsenal’s strength in depth, but that does not make it any easier for the manager.
The option of selecting a playing three out of the likes of Cazorla, Arteta, Rosicky, Wilshere, Ramsey, Diaby, Chamberlain, and Coquelin, is a ‘nightmare’ every manager would like to wake up to.
And I am sure Wenger when has this nightmare, he wakes up with a crooked smile on his face, and counts the days to each one of the injured players returns.
At 32, as mentioned in an article on him yesterday, Rosicky may find opportunities difficult to come his way, but from the previous season we have seen the winning mentality of Rosicky and how he takes his opportunities in his stride. His versatility to play anywhere in midfield will see him get some good chances.
Moreover, Rosicky was offered a two year contract this February, and we all know Wenger doesn’t usually offer two years to a 30-plus, injury prone footballer.
Wenger said: “I have spoken many times of Tomas’ class and contribution, not only on the pitch but off it as well, and I very much feel that this new contract reflects that. Tomas’ vision and touch is remarkable and I know that we will all benefit from his input in the coming seasons. Tomas is a special talent and we’re delighted that he has committed his future to Arsenal.”
It’s Rosicky’s unmatched vision, his work rate, killer pass, eye for goal, which makes him such a candidate, like a mentor, as stated by Cesc Fabregas who once said there is so much you learn from him on the field and off the field.
And this Arsenal side just needs that, it has got so much of raw talent in Jack, Ramsey, Ox, Frimpong, Coquelin, Eisfeld all it needs is an inspiring character like Rosicky, and Wenger did see just that in a star he’s kept faith in.
Fans will hope to see more of his wonderful compositions on field, and our Little Mozart is now a Senior Mozart, people look up to, who the youngsters in the same side will relish playing with and benefit from.
So it will be a tough decision for Wenger to pick his midfield, but each player offers something different. It is just up to the manager to select the right combination for the right occasion.
