The Arsenal boss has confirmed that he is tracking one of Europe’s top young talents, Kylian Mbappe.

Speaking in a video for Ligue 1’s official YouTube channel Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal are tracking Monaco youngster Kylian Mbappe.

The 18-year-old, who has emerged through the Monaco youth system, has been attracting interest from clubs all over Europe, after establishing his place in the Monaco first team over the last year or so.

“We follow him, we know him very well, and he is developing well,” Wenger said in the Ligue 1 video. “He extended his contract with Monaco last season and so it’s Monaco who is going to decide his future.”

Under the guidance of Leonardo Jardim, Mbappe has played a vital role in Monaco’s rise to prominence this season, as the club go in search of the Ligue 1 title, toppling the seemingly unmovable Paris Saint-Germain from their perch.

Mbappe’s progress has been faster than many expected, and last year the player signed a new contract with Monaco, as Jardim looks to hold onto one of his key assets.

After selling Anthony Martial to Manchester United in a multi-million pound deal last season, Arsenal fans can expect any possible deal for Mbappe to attract a hefty fee, with Monaco not needing to sell for any major financial gain.

However, the price tag isn’t putting off Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who described Mbappe as a “super talent”.

Wenger also suggested Mbappe was similar in many ways to Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, going on to add: “He could be another Thierry Henry. The potential is similar, after that if he has the same level of motivation, desire and intelligence that Thierry has, and the next two to three years will tell us that, then he can be very promising.

“He is a guy who is electric like Thierry was, can dribble, can pass and is efficient.”

With Arsenal known for recruiting talented young French players, could Kylian Mbappe be set to become yet another excellent foreign buy for Arsene Wenger? Would Arsenal fans like to see Mbappe at the club? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
