Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil is currently in negotiations with the club over a new contract.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger explained how Mesut Ozil can achieve legendary status at Arsenal if he commits his future to the club by signing a new deal, as quoted by Sky Sports.

The 28-year-old German international has been in sparkling form for the Gunners this season, and seems to have added the knack of scoring important goals to his already vast array of attributes.

Many fans and pundits class Ozil as the best number 10 in the world, but he has not had things all his own way since he moved to the Emirates in 2013.

It wasn’t until last season when the Premier League truly saw the best of the former Real Madrid man, and while Wenger sang his praises, he stated that he will only be considered an Arsenal legend if he sees out his career with the club, as quoted by Sky Sports:

“Dennis Bergkamp committed for a long period, played until he was 38. I wish we have 10 more years of Ozil. That depends. To become a legend at the club you need to stay for a long time. I understand that being a legend like Dennis Bergkamp, if you stay two years you would not be a legend.”

Arsenal fans will be desperate for Ozil to sign a new deal, along with their other world-class star Alexis Sanchez, if nothing else to prove to the rest of the world that they are not a selling club anymore, who are capable of keeping hold of their best players.
