Arsene Wenger says that he is not bothered about criticism of Arsenal spending too much money.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to respond to criticism from Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in his latest comments to the club’s official website.

The Portuguese boss came out and criticised the Frenchman’s spending, saying that many would be surprised at the amount Arsenal have spent in recent years, insisting they are spending their way to the title, reports Sky Sports.

Wenger, though, insists he isn’t listening to the criticism instead saying they are focusing on themselves and their desire to be successful next season after winning the FA Cup in the last two seasons.

“I think what you want is not to listen too much to what people say, because sometimes in the same week I get two different reproaches: one I don’t spend enough and one too much,” he told arsenal.com.

“I believe if you want to create success, which we want desperately, is to focus on inside and try to do as well as we can, believe in the football we want to play, play it as well as we can and let other people talk.”

The manager was instead looking to focus on more favourable stats, most notably the ones that show the number of players he has developed over the years.

The Gunners are well known for their youth development, having spent several years focusing on bringing in young talent and developing them through the youth ranks, with the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere their biggest success stories to date.

And he believes that if you were to compare those stats to other clubs, then people would be equally as surprised.

“I believe that one day if you make real statistics of the players we have developed here and compare them to the other clubs, you will be surprised,” he added.
