Kalvin Phillips has enjoyed a fine start to the season, manager Thomas Christiansen is clearly a fan of Eunan O’Kane, Ronaldo Vieira is one of England’s biggest talents and new signing Mateusz Klich will add class and technical quality when he adapts to Championship life.
Yet, recent reports have suggested that there may be time for one more addition to Leeds’ midfield, The Sun reporting that they were eying up a shock swoop for Crystal Palace’s forgotten man Jordon Mutch.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Leeds have more pressing priorities than strengthening their midfield with a week to go before the end of the transfer window but Bielik’s versatility means he could offer far more to Leeds than just depth.
During an impressive loan spell at Birmingham City last season, the 19-year-old thrived at centre-half and you wonder if that is where Leeds, who still need to replace Kyle Bartley, would plan on using him.
“I heard from (Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger) that he has never seen a centre-back as technically-gifted as me,” Bielik told the Birmingham Mail in June, confirming a desire to return to the Championship.
Wenger is clearly a fan, splashing out £2.5 million to land the then-17-year-old from Legia Warsaw in 2015.
“For me he has all the attributes to be a great player,” the veteran gaffer said in quotes reported by the Daily Star.
