The Scottish Premiership champions are in dire need of at least one right-back after Mikael Lustig’s cryptic clue on Instagram that he’s set to leave Glasgow.

Jeremy Toljan has already returned to parent club Borussia Dortmund after his underwhelming loan spell at Celtic and it looks like Jenkinson is now on their radar.

The 27-year-old has 93 Premier League appearances under his belt for the Gunners and West Ham United.

He might be a good signing for the Hoops if it materialises, and his former manager Arsene Wenger, who brought him to North London in 2011, was a fan.

“His fitness is outstanding, he’s quick, he has good crosses and he is good going forward,” Wenger once told Arsenal’s official website.

It’s little surprise that Jenkinson’s fitness caught Wenger’s eye, given that the Londoner comes from good stock in that regard. His father, Steve, was an athlete and competed in the 1983 World Championship in Helsinki, according to The Standard.

At 27, Jenkinson, a former 100m and 400m runner, is a good age to be joining Celtic if it materialises.
