The Arsenal star has been linked with both Barcelona and Manchester City in recent weeks.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted to the club’s official website that Hector Bellerin’s long-term future is at the Emirates.

The right back has been a huge hit at the club over the last two years, establishing himself as a first-team star after breaking through amid an injury crisis.

That has sparked fierce speculation about his future, with former club Barcelona heavily linked in the summer transfer window and Manchester City also suggested as suitors.

Arsenal would naturally loathe to lose the Spanish star, especially after being forced to sell players to both the aforementioned clubs in the past.

And Wenger insists that Bellerin will be staying in London and a new contract is in on the cards to reflect his importance.

“He has nearly three years to go and we always try get the players to the level where we think they deserve to be,” he told the club’s official website.

“So we try to extend, certainly, his contract. For me, his long-term future is here. He came at a very, very young age of 16. I think he is a real Arsenal player.”

If Arsenal are to convince Bellerin that his long-term future is at the Emirates then they will have to prove that they are contenders moving forward.

They are currently third in the table after seven games of the season and just two points behind league leaders Manchester City.

They will want to ensure that they stay as close as possible throughout or stars such as Bellerin will look to move on in the same way that the likes of Robin van Persie did in the past.
