Arsene Wenger has lauded Erling Haaland after the Manchester City striker scored another hat-trick for his new club in their 6-3 derby win against Manchester United on Sunday.
Speaking to BeIN Sports, the Arsenal legend was full of praise for the 22-year-old attacker after yet another record-breaking performance for City, with Haaland bagging his third hat-trick in as many home league games for Pep Guardiola’s side as the reigning Premier League champions swept United aside.
Haaland and Phil Foden both scored hat-tricks against United as the Norweigian international took his goalscoring tally to an astounding 17 in 11 games in all competitions, 14 of which have come in the Premier League as the striker broke even more records on Sunday.
The forward became the fastest player in Premier League history to score three hat-tricks in league history whilst Haaland, as well as Foden, became the first City player to score three goals against United since 1970, as well as the third ever overall player.
Indeed, pundits are beginning to run out of words to describe Haaland, and Wenger is no exception, with the Frenchman saying: “He is quite a monster. You get the feeling that who can stop this guy? On top of that, the service from those around him is exceptional.”

Haaland is quickly becoming a force of nature the likes of which the Premier League has never seen before, and the striker’s latest hat-trick will surely have rival clubs fearing for their sanity the next time they have to come up against the 22-year-old forward.
After all, Haaland is well on his way to shattering seemingly every goalscoring record in the book this season. And with the campaign still only just in October, there’s really no telling just how far the limits this striking phenom can go with City if he continues to stay fit and firing for Guardiola’s side.
