Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has told Sky Sports that Lucas Perez showed everything he expected in the win over Nottingham Forest.

The striker joined the Gunners this summer in a move for La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna.

He was in fine form on Tuesday evening as he played a starring role in his side’s win over Forest.

He bagged two goals in the 4-0 victory, his first coming from the penalty spot and his second a composed strike after rounding the goalkeeper.

It was the kind of goalscoring form that Arsenal fans were hoping he would add when he joined this summer and his manager was impressed.

“He has shown what I expected from him,” Wenger told Sky Sports.

“He has shown he works hard for the team and he can score goals but he has shown he can also be a team player, especially for the fourth goal that Oxlade-Chamberlain scored. He played a big part in that.”

It will be interesting to see how long it is before Perez is a regular in the Arsenal team in the Premier League.

It seems unlikely at present given the fact that the Gunners have currently managed 12 goals in their first six games, the second-best record in the division so far.

That shows a change is not needed at this moment in time and Perez may end up having to wait for his chance to impress again.
