Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was unimpressed with his side’s defending or attacking against Liverpool.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has criticised his players for failing to beat Liverpool, insisting they did not do enough to win.
The Frenchman said that he felt the 2-2 draw was ‘fair’, despite Liverpool scoring their equaliser deep into injury time.
He felt that the way the defenders failed to successfully contest the ball for Martin Skrtel’s equaliser made it difficult to complain.
He told Arsenal.com: “We conceded a corner that was a bit unlucky and where we were guilty was that we didn’t jump at all with Martin Skrtel. Of course from then on we conceded so it became 2-2.”
It was not just there however that he felt his side were deficient, blaming their inability to carve out goalscoring chances.
He added: “We played with three strikers, plus Oxlade-Chamberlain and Cazorla – that’s basically five offensive players and I felt that we didn’t create enough today.”
Wenger was right to be critical, the 2-2 draw at Anfield was the Premier League game this season in which Arsenal have created the least chances so far, with only six.
