Arsenal have been linked with a move for Sevilla star Grzegorz Krychowiak.

Arsene Wenger has denied that Arsenal are interested in signing Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak when asked on the club’s alleged interest during his pre-match press conference, ESPN reports.

Following the Gunners’ 2-0 home defeat to West Ham United last weekend, calls for a new midfielder have once again to the fore as regular first-teamer Francis Coquelin uncharacteristically looked out of sorts.

According to a report in Spanish editorial Mundo Deportivo, Krychowiak has emerged as a target with the North Londoners said to be willing to pay his £22 million release clause.

However, speaking to the press ahead of his side’s trip to Crystal Palace, Wenger has denied Arsenal’s interest by responding with a simple ‘no’ when questioned if his side are interested.

“When you lose a game, you get that kind of demand [to sign players]. Could we have won that game without any additions? I say yes,” Wenger explained, quoted by ESPN.

When asked directly if he was interested in signing Krychowiak, a reported target for the Gunners, Wenger responded: “No.”

Would Grzegorz Krychowiak be a good signing for Arsenal?

The Poland international has been one of the standout defensive midfielders in La Liga over the past two years, putting in a number of solid displays and helping Sevilla to successive Europa League triumphs.

As per a previous analysis piece published by HITC, Krychowiak bettered Francis Coquelin in five key categories last season including the average number of tackles and aerial winners per encounter.
