Borussia Dortmund beat Tottenham 3-0 in Germany.
Beating Borussia Dortmund is hard enough. Doing so without a full strength side is pretty much impossible.
Tottenham found this out to their cost last night in Germany, as they were beaten 3-0 in the Europa League last 16 first leg.
Dortmund’s kit manufacturers Puma congratulated the side on the win – also showing their allegiance to Arsenal, who they also have a sponsorship deal with – referring to Spurs as simply ‘that other North London team’.
The Gunners are three points behind their rivals in the Premier League, and face a particularly hard task to stay in European competition themselves.
They are 2-0 down from the first leg in their tie against Barcelona, and travel to the Nou Camp next week in need of a miracle to progress, with first choice goalkeeper Petr Cech out injured.
Tottenham’s challenge to overcome their 3-0 loss looks just as bleak, although they at least have the home leg to come.
